Construction Expansion Joint

Movements due to thermal expansion & contraction which are both permanent and transient of concrete units leads to cracking when movement accommodation through expansion joints are not allowed. The expansion & construction joints in the concrete structure, shall be sealed in order to prevent passage of gases, liquids, solids or other undesired substances in to the gap or through them.

HYPERSEAL®-25LM-S is a single component, Polyurethane based, Low modulus expansion joint sealant and excellent thixotropic properties. It is moisture curing material to give 50% joint movement accommodation factor which has an excellent recovery capability and a strong adhesion on substrates.

HYPERSEAL®-EXPERT-150 is a single component, Polyurethane based, Low modulus expansion joint sealant which has to be used in both at very high temperature and humidity climatic condition. It has an excellent thixotropic properties allowing its use even in very large expansion joints. It is moisture curing material to give 50% joint movement accommodation factor which has an excellent recovery capability and a strong adhesion on substrates.

Application Method

Surface Preparation

The substrate must be cleaned or removed down to a solid and stable base material. The damaged concrete edge surfaces shall be rectified by using with HYGROSMART FIBRE or EPOXY RESIN 21-T.

Laying of Backer Rod

Backer rod is laid over the prepared surface. This acts as the support for filling the HYPERSEAL PU sealant.

Application of Primer

The sides of the joint should be primed with MICROSEALER primer (dry surface) and AQUASMART DUR primer (wet surface).

Application of PU Sealants

After complete drying of primer, Masking tape is stretched and applied along the both sides of the line to be sealed. HYPERSEAL PU sealant is filled and it should be extruded into the joint so that ensuring no air is trapped in the joint. The edge masking tape should be removed before the joint sealant is hardened. For vertical joints: After full curing, sealant can be protected using sigma tape/PVC tape along the entire length.
